The Issue

When trying to send an email on iPhone or iPad, the error "cannot verify server identity" appears and there is no TRUST button to accept the new certificate. See screenshot for the screen with missing TRUST button.

The cause

SaneChoice mail server has updated their SSL Certificate. Current mixture of SaneChoice mail servers and Apple's iOS software does not handle the updated SSL as expected.

Workaround(s)

NOTE: Please contact the support department and check your mail account details before following the below workaround.  However, if you know your incoming mail server, outgoing mail server, username and password, then you do not need to contact support.

  • Delete email account on iPhone and re-setup. NOTE: This account deletion does not delete your email as emails are stored on our servers.
  • Delete the outgoing mail server and re-setup as described in this knowledgebase article.
